We are always looking for new volunteers to help with the running of the Branch.
Most important to our work is the band of Home Visitors spread throughout the Branch area. Whenever someone wants to adopt one of our animals we first conduct a visit to his house.
The purpose of this is chiefly to make sure that the animal will have a secure and caring environment, suitable to its size and temperament, in which to live, but it's also to give help and advice to the prospective adopter.
We aim to conduct a home visit within 48 hours of an animal being reserved, so that it can be re-homed as quickly as possible.
We also organise regular fund-raising events, usually getting out the collecting tins and selling RSPCA logo goods at supermarkets and garden centres. Each year we have a major collecting push when we collect at Tesco stores throughout the whole of RSPCA Week. People are always needed to hold out the boxes and talk about the work of the RSPCA!
We hope soon to have a second Branch charity shop, for which we will desperately need volunteers to serve on the till, sort merchandise, steam garments, and all the myriad other things that will need doing. Tea, biscuits and gossip will be in plentiful supply for all those willing to help out!
We have regular get-togethers, so there is always the chance to meet other volunteers and find out what they're up to.
ALL TRAVELLING EXPENSES ARE PAID BY THE BRANCH
Together with his wife Gill, Tony offered practical help to hundreds of animals. He made a difference to their lives and is sadly missed by everyone connected with the branch.
